Recently I bought a projector to cut my sewing patterns (more on that in another post I suppose), and now I can finally try all those patterns that only come in A4, because I don't have to stick them together anymore. Add to that a nice sale on McCall's patterns a little while ago, and here we are!

This is the Dawn (M8104) (up to 48"/122cm bust). According to the McCall's size chart I'm a size 12, but based on the finished measurements and other peoples' versions on Instagram I made a size 8 instead. Now it has about 9cm of ease around the bust, which is fitted but comfortable. I might grade out a bit towards the hips if I make another version.

Overall, this came together beautifull! It took about two nights of sewing to finish - including handstitching the entire buttonband on the inside. The only mishap was at the very end: despite many tests my buttonholes almost all turned out too small, and my lovely fabric covered buttons had to make way for smaller, thinner buttons. In the end I don't think that mattered much, becaus the print is so busy you can't really see them anyway.

The fabric is a Mind the MAKER viscose. The fabric itself is lovely: drapy and light but not nearly as shifty as some other viscoses I worked with. However, since it is all printed on a white background there are some places where you can see little white stripes around the seams.

Style-wise this dress is a bit girlier than my usual style, but I am sure it will find a place in my wardrobe. For now I need to figure out which warmer layers go with it, because summer is not here yet...
